All things considered the Canterbury Water Ski Association did a magnificent job in running the National Champs at Lake Crichton in March. These are not easy times in Canterbury with the economy on the back burner and earthquakes working against many aspects of life in the region, bringing death and destruction to nearby Christchurch city. In the end the Nats came together very well producing many great performances and providing a fitting spectacle for our sport. Congratulations to the CWSA and the Nationals skiers for putting on such a fine show.

CWSA President, Graeme King welcomes skiers, officials and supporters at the Nationals opening ceremony on Sunday evening.

It was a Donald double-act of upsets during the Open Womens and Open Mens jump events on Saturday. Above, Emily Donald knocked off the top seeds and won the Womens with a distance of 38.9 metres. In the Open Mens jump that followed Emily's brother James flew 58.2 metres securing the top placing. James is pictured here acknowledging his fine performance on the Splasheye scoreboard.

Lance Green won the Open Mens overall title with a win in slalom and second placings in trick and jump.

Lachie Woodman took out the Sub Juniors title with wins in slalom and trick.

Georgia O'Connell was the overall winner in the Girls division with wins in slalom, trick and jump.

Welcome
Welcome to this skishotz end of season up-date (April 2011).

We must apologise for the stale content we have had on skishotz for the duration of the 2010/2011 season. No excuses, we just got slack, although to be honest time has been at a premium over the past 12 months.

During the season we did take the opportunity to get the camera out and take in a few tournaments. We have posted the galleries here although some a rather light on content. The highlight was of course the National Champs at Lake Crichton. It was a great event with fantastic skiing and well worth making the effort to go and have a look.

As always we try to cover events as fully as we can but its impossible to get pics of all skiers at all tournaments. If you have missed out in our coverage here, we apologise for that.

Cheers,

Peter and Richard
