Clearwater Aquatic Club 50th Jubilee
It was a very proud and enthusiastic gathering that celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Ashburton's, Clearwater Aquatic Club on 18th July 2009.
More than 180 members, ex members and friends of the Club attended the dine and dance function at the Hotel Ashburton reception centre. The night included photo and video displays and featured the awarding of two Life Memberships and four Certificates of Appreciation.
skishotz attended the event and between drinks and courses managed to capture some of the action.

These are the guys and gals who made it all happen. The Jubilee organising committee from left, Neil Donaldson (Commodore) Gerry Power (Life Member) John Wood, Trevor Emery, Kelly Forrester, Gary Green (Jubilee Committee Chairman and Life Member), Robyn Green and Peter Etheridge (Life Member).

Master of Ceremonies, Colin Wilson, entertained with information he had gleaned from the Club's old minute books. Colin did a tremendous job of keeping the night on schedule and his light-hearted commentary on the Clubs history.

Gary Green (right) is awarded Life Membership of the Clearwater Aquatic Club. He is seen here receiving his certificate from Club Commodore, Neil Donaldson. Gary has been a hard working member of the club for 40 years and was the Chairman of the Jubilee organising committee.

Brian Downes received Life Membership for his efforts during 20 years of membership. Brian has played a very active role in the Club's activities and Lake Camp and was a member of the fund raising committee for Lake Hood.

The appearance of "Tammy" at the Jubilee was an example of the big effort put into the event by the organisers. Tammy is a 13' 6" Marne Marine hull that was powered intially by a Ford 10 power plant and laterly a Ford Consul motor. This display was mounted in the reception centre foyer and featured numerous relics from the Club's early years.

Greg Brake, Neil Donaldson and Heather Sim (absent) were awarded Certificates of Appreciation for their work on behalf of the Club over many years. All three have been keenly involved in the establishing of the Club's tournament site at Lake Hood.

Judith and Ross Edgar were also awarded a Certificate of Appreciation through their long involvement with the running of skis schools at Lake Camp and other activities held there.

Clearwater Club 2009 Champion of Champions, Karl Donaldson receives his trophies from father and Club Commodore Neil.

A number of trophies were on display at the Jubilee. On the right is the John Kumm Shield awarded to the top team at the Asian Australiasian Championships each year. While history has seen the trophy spend most of its time in Australia, the Kiwi team including CAC member, Scott McFadden bought it home in 2008. In the top of the pic is a newspaper cutting of Scott McFadden with the trophy and medals on his return from the AA's, last year.
