Lake
Crichton - A Waterski Paradise
Lake Crichton was established by the Wright family
twelve years ago. It is situated on farm land approximately
6 kilometres South-east of Dunsandel and 30 minutes South
of Christchurch.
Through
the efforts of it's owners and a club of enthusiastic skiers
and supporters Lake Crichton has become one of New
Zealand's top waterski venues hosting a number of regional
tournaments each season as well as prestigeous events such
as the National Championships and the Lake Crichton Proam
Tournaments.
As well as being a premier tournament site, Lake Crichton
also offers year round coaching and ski schools. The Wrights
have been instrumental in the development of waterskiing through
out the Canterbury region to the point that during the summer
it now hosts many national ski schools with top coaches. Head
coach Hamish Wright offers private coaching and ski schools
for skiers of all ages and abilites.
In recent years Lake Crichton has become the home of one of
the leading tournament waterski boat brands, Ski Nautique.
Chris and Mouse work hard with their new business Crichton
Marine to ensure that the South has the best boats
available. With the Nautique brand and Perfect Pass Cruise

Lake
Crichton has been successful in attracting a number of top world
skiers to their Pro Am tournaments. Professional skier, Jaret
Llewellyn from Canada has competed at each of the events and
speaks highly of Crichton as a world class tournament site.

The
dock area at Crichton features a lift to save trailering boats
and a huge shade sail for the benefit of skiers waiting their
turn.

After a successful Northern Hemisphere season Italian skier,
Thomas Degasperi made a clean sweep of the mens slalom and head
to head slalom at the 2007 Lake Crichton Pro Am.
|
|
|
Canterbury
